After suffering from health issues, prominent and veteran actor Gufi Paintal, 78, who was famous as Shakuni Mama from Mahabharat, passed away today (June 5) morning at 9am. His son Harry Paintal shared a note announcing his demise.
He wrote, “With profound grief we announce the sad demise of our father Mr. Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama). He passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by family.”
He admitted to the hospital and was reportedly in a critical condition. His final journey will take place today at 3.30pm form his house to Oshiwara crematorium.

His talent is not just restricted to acting, but he also worked as a television director. He also acted in many popular Bollywood films like Rafoo Chakkar, Des Pardes, Dillagi, Maidan-E-Jung, Daava, amongst others.
His notable works on the small screen have been Kanoon, Sauda, Akbar Birbal, Om Namah Shivay, Mrs. Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuein, Karn Sanghini and others. He last appeared in TV show Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki. The mythological saga was a huge hit and was most-watched shows on those days. Gufi Paintal played the role of Shakuni Mama in the series and he became a household name.
